The Craft Beer Masterclass at Tennent’s Brewery
We may be the UK’s biggest beer attraction, but that doesn’t mean we don’t know a thing or two about craft beer. When Hugh Tennent first started experimenting here in Wellpark back in 1885, no one could’ve foreseen he’d be one of Scotland’s first craft beer makers. Even though our main lager has gone on to become the biggest and best in Scotland, we still stick to our craft roots by developing a select range of core craft beers that are readily available.
This tour and craft beer masterclass is your chance to have those taste buds tickled by some of the unique beers that many people don’t know we make right here on site.
A Glasgow Beer Tour with a Delightful Twist
Anyone coming for the masterclass will start the experience by discovering why Tennent’s Lager was once called a “madman’s dream” at the immersive Tennent’s Story heritage centre. Centred on the story of Hugh Tennent and the first brew of Tennent’s Lager made here, the Tennent’s Story will take you through our history, featuring artefacts gathered from the early days of brewing at Wellpark in 1556 through to today.
From there, our expert tour guides will take you behind the scenes at Wellpark Brewery where you’ll discover the origins, production and provenance of Scotland’s favourite beer. You’ll even learn how to pour the perfect pint!
Taking part in a Craft Beer Masterclass
When the tour ends, your tutored beer tasting experience begins! Our resident expert will share their knowledge of beer during a 2-hour masterclass that features an array of Scottish and international beers.
During the master class, you’ll learn about different styles of beer and which food pairings compliment them to a T.
Expert Brews for Craft Beer Lovers
Have a keen sense of taste? Then you’ll want to know what to expect when your expert starts bringing out some of our craft brews. Wondering what there is to try? We have a rotating menu of craft beers available, but you could expect to try some of the following beers:

- Tennent’s Stout
- Tennent’s Extra
- Tennent’s India Pale Ale

Your own Pint of Glasgow’s Finest
No Tennent’s Brewery Tour would be complete without a pint of the good stuff!
After you’ve discovered the craft behind our legendary brew, you’ll be taken to our tasting experience for a free pint of brewery-fresh Tennent’s Tank Beer poured straight from our impressive copper tanks. Even if you’re familiar with our beer, the freshness you’ll get in this pint will be unlike anything else you can try in the city.
